How to stop colors running and clothes losing shape?

We brought a brand new washer yesterday, an 'electrolux EWF 1074' and the only cold wash option takes an hr and can only hold 2kgs of light fabric. The rest of the wash options has a min wash temp of 30 degrees Celsius. How can I wash warm but avoid colors bleeding and clothes losing shape and becoming baggy?
