Sore nails, tender to touch and so annoying.?

I had Acrylic nails on about a month ago now. I let them grow out quite a bit and then took them off myself. Most of it came off with just a bit of the Acrylic which i couldn't get off at the top of the nail. Today I bought a Nail Filer especially to get Acrylic off, i filed them and then used Artificial Nail Remover to remove the rest. Now a couple of really hurting me in the last couple of hours they have got a bit red underneath my nail can anyone give me reasons why this has happened and what i can do to take the pain away?
