How do you make nontoxic fake dirt (PLEASE ANSWER)?

i am making my valentines and the idea is to make it look like those sweetheart candies are being planted and growing into flowers, but i need a filer for the bucket that looks like dirt but that ca have food on it and still have the food to be safe to eat
